// What bugs me about Marching Bands.//
There are many marching bands out there that make obvious references to get approval the Ohio State University Marching Band as an example. And when they make these references, say to a video game or movie, everyone, even the people who have no experience with marching bands, falls in love with the band and it appears everywhere. But when a band does an original show with a story line and deep plot, it gets no credit.
My freshmen year we had a show about a phoenix and it started with the birth through the aging and ending with a fire and rebirth.
My sophomore year we had a show the parallels a Cinderella and it starts with the arrival to the ball, moves to the first dance, then the romantic dance, and ending with the stroke of midnight and the panicked run away.
This year our show is about witches. It begins with a gathering of witches, goes into a spell begin cast over the band and ending with a witch hunt and burning of the witch.
But our show ideas get no credit for their plots. Other shows get talked about so much just for throwing in obvious references. I think people need to look deeper into the simple things.
